Nowadays, when choosing a future profession it does not sufficiently take into account only one's own interests and hobbies. Given the wide range of specialties and the economic situation of a country, it is necessary first to analyze thoroughly the labor market and give preference to those areas where new specialists are in need.
Having analyzed the data of various German organizations, we suggest considering the list of the most popular professions in this country, since Germany is one of the most popular destinations among Ukrainian students and young specialists.
For several years now, the stability of the German economy has been attracting young people. Therefore, it is not surprising, because it is here where the level of wages occupies the second position in Europe, and the number of employed population increased from 2.88 million to 32.16 million in the period from 2012 to 2017 – it is an absolute record!
On the other hand, the rapid development of the economy caused a shortage of specialists. Most of all, Germany needs specialists in the following fields:
Choosing among this list "your" field, you must also consider the region where the shortage of personnel is the highest. Therefore, consider the situation in the labor market of each federal land. Which specialties should you choose in the east, and which ones are better to give up in the west?
In the south, the IT sector is dominant: in Bavaria more than in other regions, new programming and IT specialists are needed, and the enterprises in Baden-Württemberg are experiencing an acute shortage of SAP consultants (Information Systems Implementation Specialist). However, it is very difficult for foreigners with a medical degree to find a good job in this region. The dentists have the highest chances.
Those who want to live in Hessen should pay attention to the specialty in finance. Also financial advisers are needed in Berlin and Hamburg.
Future educators and sales representatives are better to choose Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein. In these regions there is also a shortage of working professions: electricians and maintenance staff.
In Bremen, Brandenburg and Saxony, social employee representatives are most in need. Brandenburg is looking for new specialists in nursing, and Saxony needs staff for looking after elderly people.
In addition to social workers, Thuringia is increasingly in need of industrial equipment operators.
In addition, there is a shortage of hotel and restaurant staff in the east. Most of all, the region needs skilled chefs.
Among the technical specialties, the most popular are mechanics, electricians and repairmen. Representatives of these professions should choose Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt or Thuringia.
In addition to these professions, there are not enough engineers across Germany. Today, about 30,000 jobs in this field are available on the labor market.
Among the new destinations, SMM specialists are most likely to get a job. This is due to the rapid development and popularity of social networks. So far, Germany does not offer training programs in this area, but representatives of mass communications, marketing and advertising can easily master this profession.
According to the date of one of the most reputable consulting agencies Prognos, by 2030 the German labor market will have had a shortage of 3 million skillful specialists. Therefore, the most promising and mostly needed professions for foreigners for today, as well as in the near future, are those related to the technical and industrial sectors.
Which direction and region to choose that is up to you.
