SCHOLARSHIP IN GERMANY: A REAL OPPORTUNITY OR CUSTLES IN THE AIR?

Is it possible to get funding for studying in Germany? Most believe that only those students who are perfect in their studies or possess superintelligence are eligible for the scholarship. This is not entirely true. Of course, the funds expect high academic results from you, but also social activity, participation in the life of the university, the city and the country as a whole, your civic stand plays an equally important role.

In Germany, there are many organizations that offer financing to young and promising professionals. They exist separately from the school. It is also worth paying attention to the fact that scholarships do not cover all expenses for studying, they only help to improve a student’s financial situation, give them the opportunity to devote more time to study, rather than finding part-time jobs.

We suggest considering a list of the most popular foundations and organizations.

  1. DAAD (DEUTSCHER AKADEMISCHER AUSTAUSCHDIENST)

All scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. The selection is carried out by expert commissions, which include professors from Germany and sometimes the ones from Ukrainian universities. Scholarships are usually granted to Master’s degree students or graduates of a Bachelor's degree program. First-year students cannot participate in the competition. Applications should preferably be submitted one year before the start of the program (as a rule, they are accepted for consideration in the fall - for the next academic year).

Academic performance, scientific qualifications, the quality of a scientific project (graduate students and scientists), motivation (students), participation in competitions, contests, etc., knowledge of the German language – all this is taken into consideration.

The foundation also offers short-term scholarship exchange programs.

Scholarships are provided for all specialties, special conditions exist only for the medical field.

The amount of the scholarship depends on the program and varies from 750 euros for students to 2000 euros for young teachers who want to continue their scientific research activities.
