Legal education in Germany is one of the most prestigious and promising. After graduation, students get a salary of 60,000-100,000 euros per year. Therefore, it is not surprising that entrants choose this particular field of study.
The study of German law has its own peculiarities. Education lasts for an average of 8-9 years (depends on the student's progress) and consists of two stages:
Stage I – full time study at the university during 4-5 years. After completing this stage, each student must take a state examination (Erstes Staatsexamen). Approximately 30% of the test try fails. This is due to the high level of requirements for each student. Perhaps this is why the legal education in Germany is one of the highest quality in the world, and lawyers are among the best in their field. Those, who have had a good result, get a degree of a certified lawyer, but they do not yet have the right to obtain a lawyer's license.
Stage II - "Referendariat" means taking an internship in a court or a law firm, which lasts two years. This stage allows the student to be acquainted with the peculiarities of his profession more precisely. Next, here is the turn of the second state examination.
Only after these two stages, the student becomes a true specialist who has the right to personal legal activity.
During the study, particular attention is paid to the study of public, criminal and civil law. Students also study tax, banking, environmental, labor and international law.
The main purpose of taking an internship is the ability to focus on all legal issues in different areas of the legal system, which is why students master all or a few industries simultaneously, but not specifically one.
CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION
