At the moment, no proof of prior internship is required to get an invitation to study any program at the University of Cologne.
For the programs with restriction (NC) there is the maximum age of applicants - 55 years. At the age of 55 and older, you can only be admitted if you have serious scientific or professional reasons for getting a positive admission letter. If you are 55+ and you have certain personal reasons and motivations to study and you do not need a diploma, you can study as a free student - there are no age restrictions.
There is no quota for minors to study Human Medicine and Dentistry, and therefore such applicants cannot apply. However, this rule does not apply to study at Studienkolleg. The quota of 2% is provided for underage applicants living and registered in Cologne with their parents.
If you have a high school diploma received in a German school, you are called "Bildungsinländer", then you apply online in the university's web portal, or for medicine and dentistry via hochschulstart.de . If the school leaving certificate was obtained in a non-EU country, the application must be submitted through uni-assist.
