The Technical University of Munich (abbreviated as TUM) is the only technical university in Bavaria and one of the largest higher educational institutions in Germany. The university is a part of TU 9 association of technical universities in Germany and is one of the most prestigious universities in Germany. TUM pays a lot of attention to both fundamental research to develop scientific knowledge and ideas in general, and applied research to develop specific solutions to specific problems. Every year TUM attracts more than 1000 new partners for cooperation in both scientific and business fields. The university provides training in 172 programs. Along with the faculties of technical and natural sciences typical for a technical university, there are also faculties of economics, sports and medicine. 17 researchers and students of the university were awarded with the Nobel Prize for achievements in the field of chemistry, literature, medicine and physics.

What is the minimum GPA required to get an acceptance letter?

For almost all programs at TUM, there are no specific criteria for the GPA. The admission permit is based on several factors and the average score is only a part of the competitive selection.

Are there any Bachelor's programs at TUM in English? What certificate is required to prove knowledge of English?

TUM offers over 70 programs taught in English, including several Bachelor's programs in English. To be able to study in English, the university accepts the following certificates: TOEFL (iBT) 88; IELTS 6.5; CAE -grades A, B, C; CPE - grades A, B, C. TUM School of Management can accept a GMAT certificate with a score of at least 600 points as a sufficient proof of English proficiency for some of the Master's degree programs. For some undergraduate programs, knowledge of English can be confirmed during an interview. Among English-taught Bachelor's degree programmes there are the folloeings: Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Chemical Engineering; Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Electronics and Data Engineering; Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Management and Technology; Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Management and Technology (TUM-BWL).

What is the difference between admission and enrollment?

To be able to study at the university, you need to obtain admission to study, as well as official enrollment. Admission to study confirms that you meet all the formal criteria, have successfully passed the competitive selection (in case of any) and are able to study. However, in order to be able to become an officially enrolled student, you must also complete the admission procedure, or, in other words, immatriculation. After immatriculation, you get student status, you can register for subjects and exams, as well as use the library and other opportunities of the university.

Can I study German at TUM?

TUM does not offer preparatory German language courses. To study at TUM University, you need to know German at a sufficient level. In case you are already an enrolled student, you can use the services of the TUM Language Center to study Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hibru, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish , Turkish.

Can I study medicine at TUM?

TUM offers only the second stage of medical education - clinical work, which means that you will not be able to start your medical education at TUM. Obtaining the first stage of medical education is possible at LMU, a partner university of TUM. After completing the first stage at LMU, students can further continue their medical studies at TUM.
