Less DetailsThe only undergraduate English-language program at Freie Universität Berlin is the program in North American Studies. The program has the rules of competitive selection, application for the 1st semester is possible only for the winter semester from 1.06 to 15.07. To get your application approved, you will need to pass an exam to confirm language skills at the C1 level. If you provide one of the international certificates not older than 3 years, you can be exempted from the exam: IELTS 7.0; TOEFL 100 (at 25 in writing); CPE (grades A-C); CAE (grades A-B);
The Latin term "Numerous Clause" is translated as "limited number" and means that the number of accepted applicants should not exceed the number of available places. The restriction is based on the average score competition, and the quota rule also applies to a number of categories of students.
Depending on the programs, you can submit a different number of applications at once, but in total no more than three.
To be able to study in any degree programme at Freie Universität Berlin, it is necessary to confirm knowledge of German at C1 level with one of the following certificates: DSH2; Telc C1 high school; C2 -Certificate of the Goethe-Institut; DSD II; FSP (Assessment Exam of the Studienkolleg); TestDAF (4 * 4). If you do not have the opportunity to provide one of thementioned certificates, you will be invited to DSH exam at Freie Universität Berlin. The Bachelor's degree program "German Philology" and the Master's degree program "German Literature" require the certificate of German Test DaF 5 * 5, or DSH 3. For English-language programs it is necessary to provide a certificate of C1 level in equivalent: IELTS 6.0 (writing min 6.0); TOEFL (iBT) 90 (writing min 20); CPE (grades A-C); CAE (grades A-C); FCE (grades A-B).
It is impossible to predict your chances of admission to a specific semester. There is no way you can influence the academic performance and waiting time of individual candidates. However, you can view the university's minimum scores of the accepted applicants in the past semesters.
